Online

There are many sites online that represent The Horse and His Boy. Here is one link that I enjoyed looking at: http://books.narnia.com/chronicles/books/book_horse_boy.html. I like this website because of its design and layout. Much of The Horse and His Boy takes place in the desert area surrounding the city of Tashbaan, south of Narnia. The background of this site is tan and resembles sand. The tan color could also represent parchment, which fits well with the historical context of the story. The image across the top of the page captures the scene where Shasta is among the tombs alone at night. (I have written about in my post entitled “Lightness.”) This is a powerful scene, and I like that only a portion of the image is visible.

The layout of the site is also well-done. By moving one’s cursor down the left-hand side of the page, one can learn about the other books in the series, browse through other images from the novels, learn about the author C. S. Lewis, play games related to the Narnia tales, and even listen to a chapter of the book. In the center of the page a synopsis of The Horse and His Boy is given. There are some quotes from the book as well to give the reader a taste of Lewis’ writing. This site represents the adventures of The Horse and His Boy without giving away too much of the story.
